Response data for a handle with a large buffer might be cached and then
used with the "closure" handle when it has a smaller buffer and then the
larger cache will be copied and overflow the new smaller heap based
buffer.

... to cater for systems with unsigned time_t variables.
- Renamed the functions to curlx_timediff and Curl_timediff_us.
- Added overflow protection for both of them in either direction for
both 32 bit and 64 bit time_ts
- Reprefixed the curlx_time functions to use Curl_*

When imap_done() got called before a connection is setup, it would try
to "finish up" and dereffed a NULL pointer.
Test case 1553 managed to reproduce. I had to actually use a host name
to try to resolve to slow it down, as using the normal local server IP
will make libcurl get a connection in the first curl_multi_perform()
loop and then the bug doesn't trigger.

* HTTPS proxies:
An HTTPS proxy receives all transactions over an SSL/TLS connection.
Once a secure connection with the proxy is established, the user agent
uses the proxy as usual, including sending CONNECT requests to instruct
the proxy to establish a [usually secure] TCP tunnel with an origin
server. HTTPS proxies protect nearly all aspects of user-proxy
communications as opposed to HTTP proxies that receive all requests
(including CONNECT requests) in vulnerable clear text.
With HTTPS proxies, it is possible to have two concurrent _nested_
SSL/TLS sessions: the "outer" one between the user agent and the proxy
and the "inner" one between the user agent and the origin server
(through the proxy). This change adds supports for such nested sessions
as well.
A secure connection with a proxy requires its own set of the usual SSL
options (their actual descriptions differ and need polishing, see TODO):
--proxy-cacert FILE CA certificate to verify peer against
--proxy-capath DIR CA directory to verify peer against
--proxy-cert CERT[:PASSWD] Client certificate file and password
--proxy-cert-type TYPE Certificate file type (DER/PEM/ENG)
--proxy-ciphers LIST SSL ciphers to use
--proxy-crlfile FILE Get a CRL list in PEM format from the file
--proxy-insecure Allow connections to proxies with bad certs
--proxy-key KEY Private key file name
--proxy-key-type TYPE Private key file type (DER/PEM/ENG)
--proxy-pass PASS Pass phrase for the private key
--proxy-ssl-allow-beast Allow security flaw to improve interop
--proxy-sslv2 Use SSLv2
--proxy-sslv3 Use SSLv3
--proxy-tlsv1 Use TLSv1
--proxy-tlsuser USER TLS username
--proxy-tlspassword STRING TLS password
--proxy-tlsauthtype STRING TLS authentication type (default SRP)
All --proxy-foo options are independent from their --foo counterparts,
except --proxy-crlfile which defaults to --crlfile and --proxy-capath
which defaults to --capath.
Curl now also supports %{proxy_ssl_verify_result} --write-out variable,
similar to the existing %{ssl_verify_result} variable.
Supported backends: OpenSSL, GnuTLS, and NSS.
* A SOCKS proxy + HTTP/HTTPS proxy combination:
If both --socks* and --proxy options are given, Curl first connects to
the SOCKS proxy and then connects (through SOCKS) to the HTTP or HTTPS
proxy.
TODO: Update documentation for the new APIs and --proxy-* options.
Look for "Added in 7.XXX" marks.

Visual C++ now complains about implicitly casting time_t (64-bit) to
long (32-bit). Fix this by changing some variables from long to time_t,
or explicitly casting to long where the public interface would be
affected.

Curl_select_ready() was the former API that was replaced with
Curl_select_check() a while back and the former arg setup was provided
with a define (in order to leave existing code unmodified).
Now we instead offer SOCKET_READABLE and SOCKET_WRITABLE for the most
common shortcuts where only one socket is checked. They're also more
visibly macros.

curl_printf.h defines printf to curl_mprintf, etc. This can cause
problems with external headers which may use
__attribute__((format(printf, ...))) markers etc.
To avoid that they cause problems with system includes, we include
curl_printf.h after any system headers. That makes the three last
headers to always be, and we keep them in this order:
curl_printf.h
curl_memory.h
memdebug.h
None of them include system headers, they all do funny #defines.

The function "free" is documented in the way that no action shall occur for
a passed null pointer. It is therefore not needed that a function caller
repeats a corresponding check.

The comment in the code mentions the zero terminating after having
copied data, but it mistakingly zero terminated the source data and not
the destination! This caused the test 864 problem discussed on the list:

Otherwise the connection can get stuck during various phases, waiting
for new data on the socket using select() etc., but it will never be
received as the data has already been read into SSL library.
|
|
We've announced this pending removal for a long time and we've
repeatedly asked if anyone would care or if anyone objects. Nobody has
objected. It has probably not even been working for a good while since
nobody has tested/used this code recently.
The stuff in krb4.h that was generic enough to be used by other sources
is now present in security.h

Use Curl_pp_moredata() in Curl_pp_multi_statemach() to check if there is
more data to be received, rather than the socket state, as a task could
hang waiting for more data from the socket itself.
|
|
A simple function to test whether the PP is not sending and there are
still more data in its receiver cache. This will be later utilized to:
1) Change Curl_pp_multi_statemach() and Curl_pp_easy_statemach() to
not test socket state and just call user's statemach_act() function
when there are more data to process, because otherwise the task would
just hang, waiting for more data from the socket.
2) Allow PP users to read multiple responses by looping as long as there
are more data available and current phase is not finished.
(Currently needed for correct processing of IMAP SELECT responses.)

It seems older gcc installations (at least) will cause warnings if we
name a variable 'wait'. Now changed to 'block' instead.

... since they're not used by the easy interface really, I wanted to
remove the association. Also, I unified the pingpong statemachine driver
into a single function with a 'wait' argument: Curl_pp_statemach.
|
|
Reworked the pp->endofresp() function so that the conndata, line and
line length are passed down to it just as with Curl_client_write()
rather than each implementation of the function having to query
these values.
Additionally changed the int return type to bool as this is more
representative of the function's usage.

This commit renames lib/setup.h to lib/curl_setup.h and
renames lib/setup_once.h to lib/curl_setup_once.h.
Removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard foreign
to libcurl. [1]
Removes the need and presence of an alarming notice we carried
in old setup_once.h [2]
----------------------------------------
1 - lib/setup_once.h used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro as header inclusion guard
up to commit ec691ca3 which changed this to HEADER_CURL_SETUP_ONCE_H,
this single inclusion guard is enough to ensure that inclusion of
lib/setup_once.h done from lib/setup.h is only done once.
Additionally lib/setup.h has always used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro to
protect inclusion of setup_once.h even after commit ec691ca3, this
was to avoid a circular header inclusion triggered when building a
c-ares enabled version with c-ares sources available which also has
a setup_once.h header. Commit ec691ca3 exposes the real nature of
__SETUP_ONCE_H usage in lib/setup.h, it is a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl belonging to c-ares's setup_once.h
The renaming this commit does, fixes the circular header inclusion,
and as such removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl. Macro __SETUP_ONCE_H no longer used in libcurl.
2 - Due to the circular interdependency of old lib/setup_once.h and the
c-ares setup_once.h header, old file lib/setup_once.h has carried
back from 2006 up to now days an alarming and prominent notice about
the need of keeping libcurl's and c-ares's setup_once.h in sync.
Given that this commit fixes the circular interdependency, the need
and presence of mentioned notice is removed.
All mentioned interdependencies come back from now old days when
the c-ares project lived inside a curl subdirectory. This commit
removes last traces of such fact.

As pointed out in Bug report #3579064, curl_multi_perform() would
wrongly use a blocking mechanism internally for some commands which
could lead to for example a very long block if the LIST response never
showed.
The solution was to make sure to properly continue to use the multi
interface non-blocking state machine.
The new test 1501 verifies the fix.

Just a sign of where the code originally was ripped out from. Now it is
generic "pingpong".

This removes command length restrictions on calling functions.
|
|
It was mostly typecasted to int all over the code so switching to long
instead all over should be a net gain.

By the use of a the new lib/checksrc.pl script that checks that our
basic source style rules are followed.

Massively reduce #ifdefs all over (23 #ifdef lines less so far)
Moved conversion-specific code to non-ascii.c

This makes it easier to spot the enum values from the variables.
Removed some unneeded DEBUGASSERT added in the previous commit.
|
|
While changing Curl_sec_read_msg to accept an enum protection_level
instead of an int, I went ahead and fixed the usage of the associated
fields.
Some code was assuming that prot_clear == 0. Fixed those to use the
proper value. Added assertions prior to any code that would set the
protection level.

There is an implicit conversion from "unsigned long" to "long";
rounding, sign extension, or loss of accuracy may result.
